Acrylic painting for beginners

Come learn to paint with acrylics. Course includes color theory, acrylic painting techniques, brush work and basic drawing instruction for class studies. No prior experience required.

The course begins with an introduction to supplies and materials, color theory and painting techniques. Next, we will begin painting simple subjects and develop skills step-by-step, slowly increasing the complexity of the subjects. The goal is for the student to gain an understanding of acrylic painting techniques and ultimately, be able to follow their own interests and creativity.

Materials are not included in the course fee. Materials needed for the course are: Acrylic Paints (Golden, Liquitex, Amsterdam, Winsor & Newton or other) Lemon or Hansa Yellow, Cadmium Yellow Medium, Cerulean Blue, Ultramar ine Blue, Cadmium Red Light, Alizarin Crimson, Burnt Umber, Burnt Sienna, Yellow Ochre or Yellow Oxide, Titanium White. Brushes: Long Handles #8 Round, #2 Round and #10 Flat. Sketch tablet, #2B Drawing pencil, Pencil sharpener, Kneaded eraser, palette knife Supplies can be purchased online or at art supply stores. Paper palette tablet, Sketch tablet, Masking tape, #2B, Watercolor paper tablet, 140#, cold press, 11"x14" or similar (Beginning painting class starts out on paper) Paper towels (old newspapers) and cotton rags.
