Mare Wilson

My workshops were inspired years ago from my time as a volunteer teaching art to school children. Over time, as kids grew older, I watched their open-hearted artistic exploration change from unshakable confidence to questioning whether their work was right or wrong, good or bad. The joy that they had from simply being immersed in the process was lost.

Many of us lose that permission to be an art maker. That’s why I created my workshops: to lead people back to that joyous place. 

After I completed a bachelor's degree in the United States in a subject I never actually used, I studied a wide variety of art disciplines, ranging from glass blowing, glass casting, and blacksmithing in Seattle, to mosaic-making in Italy and France, to abstract painting in Asheville, North Carolina. I enjoy balancing my time between teaching workshops and spending time in my studio developing my creative work.
