Ever felt lost in front of a wine list? This course gives you wine knowledge you'll actually use. Learn from a winemaker how wine is really made, and walk into any bar or wine shop knowing exactly what you like and why.
Over four evenings, you'll discover wine the way a winemaker sees it: technical, honest and surprisingly personal, without the jargon or the snobbery.
We begin to learn about the vineyard and the cellar, where wine really starts. You'll learn what happens before a wine ever reaches your glass: how grapes become wine, the choices the winemaker makes, and why those choices shape everything you taste.
The second evening is about you: how your sense of smell and taste actually work, and why two people can taste the same wine and experience something completely different. It's the science behind why taste is personal, made simple and fun, so you learn to trust your own palate instead of someone else's tasting notes.
From there we explore the wines themselves. One evening on sparkling and white wines, where you'll discover how bubbles are really made and why whites vary so much. One evening on reds, from tannins to ageing, and how they change so dramatically. Along the way you'll taste and compare, and learn to read what's in the glass.
Each evening includes a guided tasting and ends with something you can use right away, from decoding a label to choosing a wine you'll love in any bar or shop. No prior knowledge needed, just curiosity. By the end, you'll look at any glass of wine and understand the whole story behind it, taught by someone who has made it herself.
